Death announced of HIQA board chair Prof Pat O’Mahony

The Health Information and Quality Authority (HIQA) has announced the death of its chairman Prof Pat O’Mahony. Prof O’Mahony served in that role for the past seven years. He was also independent chairperson of the Irish Medicines Verification Organisation (IMVO), having been appointed to the position in June 2017. He had long and varied experience in pharmaceutical regulation and public health through previous roles including chief executive of the Health Products Regulatory Authority, a position he held between 2002 an 2015.
