Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital gets permission to begin 3 new super-speciality courses
According to The Hindu news report, there are only 13 MCH seats available in these three disciplines in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Sathya Kumar welcomed the institute's decision to start three cancer speciality courses. The 120-bed Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital and Research Centre at Visakhapatnam is run under the aegis of the Union government’s Department of Atomic Energy. Prior to this, Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav announced in June that the State government will soon issue a notification to recruit 8,000 doctors, in addition to informing that around 2,600 were already appointed last year. On this, Medical Dialogues reported that the announcement was made while inaugurating the new Block Public Health Unit and the tehsildar office in Tadimarri mandal under the Dharmavaram Assembly constituency. The Minister said that the government is taking strong steps to improve healthcare in rural areas. As part of this effort, 168 Block Public Health Units have been sanctioned across the State, including two for the Dharmavaram constituency alone. He also highlighted the government’s investment in health infrastructure, stating that 3,200 diagnostic machines, including six CT scanners, have been purchased recently. He added that cancer treatment is now being provided free of cost at the new State Cancer Centre in Kurnool.
