Krispin’s Journey: Fighting Myeloma with Immunotherapy in India

0 Mins
Krispin, a 62-year-old man from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, had a large nodule and persistent leg pain that were seriously impairing his mobility. After months of concern and uncertainty, he was diagnosed with myeloma, a kind of blood cancer. Seeking a second chance at life, Krispin contacted MediGence on August 10, 2024, and was determined to receive professional care. Dr. Vishwas, a MediGence patient counsellor, was introduced to him and gave him comprehensive information and possibilities for receiving specialised cancer treatment overseas. India: A Choice for Expert Oncology Care After evaluating several treatment destinations, Krispin chose Fortis Shalimar Bagh in India, known for its expertise in oncology and advanced cancer treatment options. To ensure Krispin had a stress-free and easy arrival in India, MediGence organised essential aspects of the trip, including airport transfers and visa assistance. On November 11, 2024, Krispin travelled to India to begin his treatment journey. Receiving Care with Compassion and Precision Krispin spent a total of 40 days in India, with 10 days at the hospital. Under Dr. Mohit’s guidance, he had spinal fixation surgery to address structural issues related to his disease. Krispin had immunotherapy after surgery, a targeted treatment approach intended to prevent the growth and metastasis of the malignancy. Though not curative, the treatment has bought him valuable time, improved his quality of life, and offered a renewed sense of hope. He has since been managing his condition with strength and resilience. Support Beyond Borders While Krispin did not require rehabilitation services, MediGence supported him through critical aspects of his journey, from visa approval to coordinating transportation upon arrival. To encourage those who may be going through similar difficulties, Krispin also posted a review of his experience, along with a picture. Living With Strength and Gratitude Krispin’s story is one of courage in the face of adversity. Though his diagnosis was serious, his determination to seek care and the professional treatment he received in India have empowered him to continue living meaningfully, with the time and hope that immunotherapy has provided. We at MediGence are honoured to have been part of Krispin’s journey. His resilience reminds us that healthcare is not just about medicine, but also about dignity, willpower, and the human spirit. We wish Krispin continued strength and peace in his path forward.
