United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals signs contract with Mizaic

0 Mins
United Lincolnshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust (ULTH) has partnered with HealthTech firm Mizaic to launch an electronic document management system (EDMS) across the trust. Following a competitive tender process, ULTH will implement MediViewer in early 2026, enabling the trust to create digitised, accessible versions of its historic patient records. The cloud-enabled platform will be used to integrate a large number of document feeds, as well as accept scanned patient records into the system, when integrated with the trust’s electronic patient record (EPR), providing a complete picture of the patient record. Michael Humber, group director of digital services at Lincolnshire Community and Hospitals NHS Group, said: “Our contract signing with Mizaic allows us to invest in a product that will give us modern, supported digital technology to enable our colleagues to have improved access to historic patient records. “Having better access to historic patient records will in turn improve patient outcomes. “The introduction of the Mizaic MediViewer EDMS enables our trust to improve access to existing patient records and information. “This will support our frontline teams by helping us to reduce risks and improve efficiencies. “The information will also help us to support collaborative working across the Lincolnshire Integrated Care System and will help us to improve the level of care provided to patients. “It will also assist with our delivery of clinical care in the group.” MediViewer delivers search capabilities which enable clinicians and users to review patient information and unlock clinical insights at the point of care, via an intuitive interface. The partnership also sees ULTH among the first to access MediViewer’s latest features – an AI-powered intelligent search feature and its Access Request Manager module. Its intelligent search function supports clinical teams to surface relevant information, from within patient records, while Access Request Manager automates and streamlines the access request process, with the aim of reducing time and administrative burden. Jon Pickering, chief executive at Mizaic, said: “It’s exciting to see more NHS trusts take bold steps toward digitisation. “This latest contract signing reflects the growing momentum we’re seeing across the NHS – not just to move away from paper, but to unlock the true value of patient records, transforming unstructured patient information into accessible and actionable clinical insight. “We’re proud to support ULTH as it builds a fully digital, connected approach to patient care.” Meanwhile, Harrogate and District NHS Foundation Trust is preparing to go live with MediViewer in autumn 2025 to bring together disparate legacy digital systems and clinical data. The trust plans to digitise around 140,000 paper records — around 50 million images — and consolidate data from 25 different legacy systems.
