Violence caught on camera: Mob storms Kadiri Govt Hospital, assaults doctors

Hyderabad: In a shocking incident, doctors and medical staff at Kadiri Government Hospital in Sri Sathya Sai district were allegedly brutally assaulted after attempting to stop an intoxicated group of Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leaders who stormed the hospital, targeting a patient undergoing treatment. A video of the incident went viral on social media, showing a group of men attacking another man, pushing him against a medical trolley, and then brutally beating him in a ward. The medical team inside the ward was left terrified, and a nurse injured her hand when the metal trolley hit her. CCTV footage also captured how the clash unfolded, the rage of the attackers, and the hospital security guard’s failed attempt to stop them due to the group’s force. During the fight, a person who had gone to buy liquor was attacked, got injured and was rushed to the government hospital for treatment. However, the same group that attacked him followed him to the hospital and attempted to assault him again. When doctors and medical staff intervened to stop them, they were assaulted as well. Kadiri Circle Inspector Narayana Reddy told TOI, "The violence stemmed from a drunken brawl near the liquor belt shop in Kutagulla locality. One injured person was brought to the hospital, prompting others involved in the fight to follow and continue the clash inside the premises." Following the assault, doctors boycotted duties and staged a protest, demanding strict action against the attackers. They condemned the behaviour of TDP leaders and urged the Andhra Pradesh government to ensure the safety of medical professionals in government hospitals. The hospital management and locals in the Kadiri mandal urged authorities to ensure the safety of the doctors, stressing that political hooliganism inside hospitals should be dealt with firmly. Based on the CCTV footage, police registered an attempt-to-murder case against eight people, and an investigation is underway.
